DESCRIPTION:ЗАРЕГИСТРИРОВАТЬСЯ\nAmerican Center Minsk invites you to the presentation of a new book by Victor Martinovich. \nIn March 2024\, Victor Martinovich arrived in New York as a Fulbright Visiting Scholar with the aim of writing a theoretical study on the language of the humanities. The idea for the project emerged from his teaching experience in hermeneutics and art history in Vilnius. \nFollowing collaboration with colleagues at Hunter College\, as well as presentations of his research at Harvard University and the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor\, the author completed a book that proposes new ways of engaging with art. According to the author\, this work restores to painting the magical power from which it originally emerged. \nThe monograph The Art of Mercy Against Oblivion was published by Routledge\, one of the world’s leading academic publishers\, in the Research Methods for Arts and Humanities series. The book combines approaches from art history and art theory with autoethnographic methodology\, bringing Raphael\, Botticelli\, Caspar David Friedrich\, Pan\, Chagall\, and Soutine into a shared conversation about happiness\, betrayal\, loss\, and love. \nDuring the online lecture\, Victor Martinovich will present selected excerpts from the book and answer questions from participants. The event will be held in Belarusian and English.
